Major Bollywood filmmakers have gravitated towards Uttar Pradesh for more than five decades, drawing from its history, culture and atmospheric locales to create celluloid history. Fortunately for the traveller, many of these destinations that have been immortalised on film are within easy reach, offering plenty in the way of sightseeing, eating and shopping too.
Octopussy (1983) -Even though it was the city of Udaipur that shot to fame with the 13th film in the Bond movie Octopussy, parts of it were also shot in Agra. A glimpse of the Taj Mahal seemed imperative to be shown as Bond (played by Roger Moore) landed in India. Ofcourse, the rest of the Indian context was that of Udaipur, but Taj Mahal served as a contextual shot for worldwide audiences. Even the Agra Fort made a short appearance. The cast also included Indian actor Kabir Bedi and tennis champion, Vijay Amritraj.
